I have always thought that Sexton is a terrible fit with Steph. Two small guards is a bad idea, especially when one (Sexton) is one of the worst defenders in the league. EPM has him in the 4th percentile, BPM has him as a significantly negative player for his career (and negative last season).
Sexton would be more of a sixth man, someone to provide us scoring and give Steph a breather. We already have proof of concept that this would work when Poole was tearing it up with the Warriors.
I agree that Sexton is poor defensively, but any player we try to secure will be flawed in some way. The question is, is their flaw manageable? I think given our dominant defensive squad, Sextons poor defense would be manageable.
Poole didn't really tear it up, and looking at his career that was the outlier. I wouldn't look to replicate that. And just because the Warriors have a good defense that doesn't necessarily mean they can cover up for literally one of the worst defenders in the league. Having one-way players limits flexibility in your rotation - we saw that this year.
Besides, Butler already is the guy to lead non-Steph units. In the playoffs Sexton would be a liability and probably wouldn't play.
Resign Kuminga for 25 million and eventually trade him to Hornets for Williams/Green (contracts match up).
Trade Moody for Sexton. It saves the Jazz money while securing them a two way player with some upside who won’t fuck up their tank in the short term. We’d probably have to add a second round pick to sweeten the deal.
Charlotte would trade Williams/Green to get Kuminga. They’d do it because Kuminga could easily be a 20 ppg scorer with more minutes and they’ve can afford to let him while he learns to not be inefficient with it. Him and Miles Bridges would be an electric front court combo to fit alongside Lamelo.
Utah gets Moody which allows for them to save money while securing a two way player with some upside but whom won’t threaten their ability to tank in the short term due to his lack of explosive scoring ability.
Heck, just two days ago I said he was soft and that I was glad the Warriors didn’t sell the farm for him. And I almost posted the same about Myles Turner during his brutal first half last night … before he came up big in the 2nd.
They’re both the kind of not-quite-superstars that can frustrate you at times, but the beauty of the Pacers is that they’ve got so many very-good-but-not-elite guys that (in Carlisle’s egalitarian system) a couple of them are bound to look like superstars on any given night.
I was against the JK for Siakam trade. Kuminga is so young, I said. His ceiling is so much higher, I said. I'm not sure Siakam is all that, I said. Oh boy...
Of course we didn't know Jimmy was a possibility then. But remember, Siakam just had one season left on his deal, and reportedly he was not willing to extend with the Dubs. He was willing with the Pacers. So he wasn't coming here anyway.
Honestly, if Brunson was worried they were gonna foul him, he should've pushed a bit further and tried to bait a 3 shot foul instead of launching from that deep
You either get fouled and shoot 3 FTs, or two FTs (and have a chance to intentionally miss the second if you want to go that route) or if they aren't fouling, you get a chance to tie on a closer three
Never seen a team score faster than these Pacers. Even off a made basket they’re sometimes scoring two seconds later. And they do it right through to the end of the game. Must be overwhelming to play against.
Kerr pointed out on some radio interview recently that ideally he wanted his team to be able to pass and pointed to the Pacers as the example (and I think mentioned the Warriors and Pacers are the top two teams in passes per possession, I didn't fact check it though).
The fact that this is a close game after what the Pacers did to the Knicks in Game 1 tells me this thang is over in 5, maybe 6 if Indy has a sloppy game
E1P coming Friday 6am. GSW comments can stay in this thread.
what a game - Vegas has them winning only 8 games this season - if they play like that in clutch they probably win a few more!
What do yall think of a Kuminga/Moody trade for Collin Sexton/Josh Green/Mark Williams?
Pass, I’d rather keep Moody.

Do it in heartbeat but how does it happen?
Resign Kuminga for 25 million and eventually trade him to Hornets for Williams/Green (contracts match up).

Sure, but three questions:
Does it work?
Who gets who and why would Charlotte and Utah do it?

I'm going to admit that I may have underestimated Pascal Siakam...

I still want to see him in the triangle offense

Confession, they say, is good for the soul. 😁

It wouldn't had been Jk for Siakam. It be Jk, Wiggins, 1-2 picks. So likely no Jimmy

At this point I’m starting to feel bad for the Knicks’ fans. Losing the first two at MSG has gotta hurt.
The Mecca of basketball lolol
KAT has faults but Thibodeau not playing him or running offense through him is questionable.
Most of what Thibs does is questionable.
Most of what Thibs does is questionable.
"Karl-Anthony watched from the bench, not due to foul trouble but a -23 net rating—the team’s worst."
Looks like Mathurin isn't getting much run for Indy either. Something about that #00 number
Thibs is a 1 trick pony coach
I'm surprised at how much he's playing his bench. I thought that starting 5 would each play 45+ minutes
They’re not playing well enough for that. His adjustment game isn’t too good.
Knicks needed it to be a short series to win it imo, Pacers should have the pace/depth advantage as the series gets deeper.
Carlisle is a hell of a coach.
Looks like they may get a short series.
Lol

How insane would it be if Knicks end up winning tonight
Knicks suck honestly but Brunson's insane clutch gene is forcing them to stay in games lol
I think the Knicks are pretty good, and they surprised me these playoffs, but these Pacers are legit.
Knicks fans gonna be yelling about the missed goaltend for a while...
Knicks in trouble.
If both series end in 5-ish games, will the start of the Finals be moved up?
I don't believe so.
Pacers play beautiful basketball. I have an irrational dislike for Nembhard because of him owning us at Chase but this is awesome to watch

Obviously Steph is Steph but that Indy starting 5 is Steve's dream to run his offense
